# Community Collaboration for Pet Safety
Minneapolis Animal Care & Control (MACC) is taking a proactive step towards enhancing pet safety in the community. In a commendable move, MACC has partnered with two pet welfare organizations to host a free pet microchipping clinic. This initiative is set to take place at the North Commons Recreation Center, welcoming pet owners from 5 to 8 p.m. * Partnership with Pet Welfare Organizations
- MACC has joined forces with two reputable pet welfare organizations.
“It’s a small procedure that can have a huge difference in the outcome for your pet.”
The Importance of Microchipping Your Dog
– Identification and Recovery: A microchip is a tiny device implanted under your dog’s skin, which contains a unique identification number. – Ease of Recovery: If your dog is lost, a microchip makes it easier for shelters and veterinarians to identify and return them to you. – Cost-Effective: Compared to other forms of identification like collars with tags, microchipping is a one-time cost that can last a lifetime.
MACC calls the situation “heartbreaking” when they have a pet they know belongs to someone but can’t identify that owner.
