Nevada SPCA launches 5 microchipping program in response to new Clark County pet law
The Nevada SPCA is partnering with a local veterinarian to offer the service. The program will be free for the first 50 pet owners who sign up for the microchip service.
The Need for Microchipping
Microchipping is a simple and effective way to ensure the safe return of lost pets. According to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), microchipping can increase the chances of a pet being reunited with its owner by up to 95%.
The county has also established a mandatory vaccination program for all animals.
The New Ordinance: A Step Towards Animal Welfare
The Clark County Commission has taken a significant step towards improving animal welfare in the county by passing an ordinance requiring all dogs and cats over four months old to be microchipped. This new law aims to increase the chances of animals being reunited with their owners in the event of a lost pet.
