Preparing for the DVSS Guidelines

To ensure compliance with the DVSS guidelines, pet owners must take the following steps:

  • Obtain a valid vaccination certificate from a recognized veterinary clinic or animal hospital. Ensure the dog is microchipped and has a valid identification tag. Keep a record of the dog’s vaccination history, including the date of vaccination and the type of vaccine used.

    Safety Precautions for Dog Owners

As a responsible dog owner, it is essential to take necessary precautions to ensure the safety of both your dog and others around them. One of the most critical aspects of dog ownership is maintaining control over your dog’s movements and activities.

    Supervising Your Dog

  • Keeping your dog within your property boundaries or under close supervision at all times is crucial for their safety and the safety of others. This means being mindful of your dog’s surroundings and taking steps to prevent them from escaping or getting into trouble. Regularly checking on your dog, especially in areas with high foot traffic or potential hazards, can help prevent accidents. ### Vaccination Against Rabies*
  • Vaccination Against Rabies

The Department of Veterinary Services strongly recommends that all dogs be vaccinated against rabies annually. This is a critical measure to prevent the risk of transmission of the rabies virus to humans and other animals. The rabies vaccine is typically administered through a series of injections, and the booster shots are usually given every 1-3 years, depending on the dog’s age and health status. It is essential to follow the vaccination schedule recommended by your veterinarian to ensure your dog receives the necessary protection.
