Pima Animal Care Center asks community to help prevent lost pets on New Year
The Importance of Holding Animals for Three to Five Days
Holding animals for three to five days is a crucial aspect of PACC’s intake process. This period allows the owner to come forward and claim their pet, reducing the likelihood of euthanasia.
Free Services Offered by PACC
Pima Animal Care Center (PACC) is a non-profit animal shelter located in Tucson, Arizona. The shelter provides a wide range of services to help animals find their forever homes. In addition to its core services, PACC is also offering several free services to the community.
Free Customized Pet ID Tags
One of the free services offered by PACC is customized pet ID tags. These tags are designed to help ensure the safe return of pets in case they become lost.
The Importance of Reporting Lost Pets
Reporting a lost pet is crucial in increasing the chances of being reunited with your furry friend. According to the ASPCA, the majority of lost pets are found within a mile of their home and within 24 hours. This is because most lost pets are found by their owners or neighbors, who often keep an eye on the area where the pet went missing. Factors that contribute to a pet being found quickly include: + The pet’s familiarity with its surroundings + The presence of a familiar scent or sound + The visibility of the pet’s collar or identification tags + The promptness of the owner’s search efforts
The Role of Image Recognition Technology
Petco Love Lost uses image recognition technology to match lost pets with pets found in the community. This technology allows users to upload a photo of their lost pet and compare it to photos of pets found in the area. The system can also identify pets that have been reported lost in the past, increasing the chances of a reunion.
